Being Featured on @instaSG 🇸🇬📸

Recently, one of my photos was featured on @instaSG, a community page that highlights the work of Instagram photographers from Singapore.

What makes this feature meaningful is that @instaSG is built around the local photography community. It’s a space where photographers share their perspectives of Singapore, from everyday street moments to festivals and unique visual experiments.

The photo that was featured actually came from a moment of experimentation. During the Chinese New Year season, instead of focusing on portraits or performances, I was exploring techniques like shutter drag and paying attention to the festive details around me. The lights, decorations, and colours created a vibrant environment that was perfect for creative exploration.

Sometimes the most interesting photographs come from simply slowing down and observing the environment. Rather than chasing obvious subjects, I was drawn to the smaller visual elements that contribute to the atmosphere of the celebration.

Seeing the image shared by a Singapore photography community like @instaSG was definitely encouraging. It’s always motivating when fellow photographers appreciate and resonate with your work.
