A Photo, A Story, and A Second Place Finish

Photography often begins with curiosity.
Curiosity to explore, to observe, and to see f
amiliar places in a different way. Sometimes that curiosity leads to photographs that become more meaningful than you ever expected.
Recently, I was honoured to receive 2nd prize in The Wild We See Photography Competition organised by the Youth Corps SG Sustainability Cluster.
When I first submitted the image, I wasn't thinking about awards or results. I simply wanted to share a moment that caught my attention and tell a story through a single frame.
That's one of the things I love most about photography.
Every photograph represents a decision. Where to stand, when to press the shutter, what to include, and what to leave out. Behind every image is a combination of patience, timing, observation, and sometimes a little bit of luck.
Receiving this recognition reminded me that photography is about more than technical settings or expensive equipment. It's about perspective. Two people can stand in the same place and walk away with completely different images and stories.
Competitions can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when you see the incredible work produced by other photographers. But experiences like this reinforce the importance of putting your work out there, even when you're unsure of the outcome.
You never know which image might resonate with others.
More importantly, you never know how much you can grow simply by participating.
Winning 2nd prize is something I am incredibly grateful for, but what means even more to me is the reminder to continue exploring, creating, and sharing the moments that catch my eye.
This recognition is not a finish line.
It's encouragement to keep learning, keep improving, and keep pressing the shutter.
To everyone who has supported my photography journey so far, thank you.
Here's to more stories, more adventures, and many more photographs still waiting to be taken.
